MOO Tutorial Worksheet

By working through the "Getting Started with a New Connections Character" tutorial and answering completing this worksheet, you'll get a good introduction to MOOing. I'd suggest cutting and pasting the following questions into a word processing document and then answering the questions as you follow the tutorial.

  1. Describe how to use the MOO's help system.
  2. Explain how passwords work on Connections and what to do if you forget yours.
  3. What do you do if you want to change your character's name? What are the rules for names?
  4. Why should you add a description to your character?
  5. What is the purpose of choosing a gender on Connections? What happens if you set your gender to Spivak?
  6. What should you do if you want your email to be private?
  7. What seems to be the difference between the commands look and exam?
  8. What is an @doing message and how do you set it?
  9. What good is the command @exits?
  10. What commands can you use to move around the MOO?
  11. What is the Village realm?
  12. What are the commands for speaking out loud?
  13. What commands should you use to talk out loud to someone directly?
  14. What is emoting?
  15. What is the difference between whispering and paging? When should you whisper and when should you page?
  16. How do you log out of the MOO?
