Writing Assignment 7: Creating a MOO Object

After reading the Connections This Old MOO tutorial "Creating Objects," use the tutorial to create an object and answer the following questions. When you are done, you should have both a MOO object, which I will look at on the MOO, and a written assignment to turn in. The MOO Commands for Creating Objects on Connections and Generic Objects on the MOO Connections may be of use as you work on this assignment.

Part 1: Create your object

Following the tutorial guidelines:

  • Create an object using the $thing as your parent object (see the background information on making objects if you skipped it)
  • Add an alias to your object
  • Provide your object with a description
  • Provide your object with an @integrate_room message
  • Provide your object with an @integrate_person message
  • If necessary, set the .proper property on your object

Don't forget to check your messages by setting your object down and reading the room's description and by holding your object and looking at yourself. Make sure that the messages provide full sentences that make sense.

Part 2: Written Assignment

  1. What is the name of your object?
  2. What is the object number of your object?
  3. What is your object's description?
  4. What is your object's @integrate_room message?
  5. What is your object's @integrate_person message?
  6. Define quota
  7. If you've lost your object, what do you need to do to get it back?
  8. What is a parent object?
