General Guidelines for Written Work Standard
written work turned in for a grade should follow these guidelines. This
format will not work for all assignments, especially journal entries
and other Web-based work, but it should be followed when possible. Specific
assignments might include additional, even contradictory, guidelines.
When that is the case, specific assignment guidelines supersede these
here. 1) Assignments must be typed and legibly printed from a computer or a typewriter. Standard quality for ink-jet and laser printers are always appropriate. Typing should be double-spaced for essays, short papers, and short assignments not posted online. Normal margins should be an inch at the top, bottom, left, and right of each page. 2)
Each item submitted should have the following information in the upper
left hand corner, double-spaced, and starting one inch from the top:
3)
The assignment title should be centered and one double space below the
information in number 2. Final versions of essays should be given an
essay title as well as an assignment title. 4)
Each page should bear the last name of the student and the page number
in the upper right-hand corner one-half inch from the top. (Use the
header function of your word processor. If youre not sure how
to insert a header, check your softwares help or ask me.) 5) All pages should be stapled or paper-clipped together. Writing projects should be turned in inside a folder with individual drafts stapled or paper-clipped together |
