Offered through Saint Louis University's John Cook School of Business analytics and enterprise systems major offers you in-depth knowledge of business analytics and enterprise resource planning software.

Major in Analytics and Enterprise Systems

Students who major in analytics and enterprise systems will learn to collect, organize and analyze data generated by business activities, including purchasing, marketing, manufacturing and distribution.

In addition to fulfilling the requirements for the Bachelor of Science, students complete 18 credits in information technology management courses, 3000 level or above.

Highlighted Courses

15 credits as follows (three credits each):

  • ITM 3300: Database Management Systems
  • ITM 3700: Business Analytics
  • ITM 3900: Applied Enterprise Systems Implementation
  • ITM 4700: Business Data Mining
  • ITM 4900: Enterprise Systems Practicum

One of the following:

  • ACCT 4250: Accounting Information Systems (May be used either the areas of analytics and enterprise or accounting, or both.)
  • ITM 3100: Enterprise Application Development
  • ITM 3550: Introduction to Big Data 
  • ITM 4910: Analytics and Enterprise Systems Internship
  • MKT 4650: Marketing Analytics (May be used in either the areas of analytics and enterprise systems or marketing, but not both.)
Internships and Careers

Students who graduate with a concentration in analytics and enterprise systems have a strong set of skills in problem-solving, information utilization and business communication. Possible career paths include working as a business analyst, functional consultant or application consultant.

Minor in Business Analytics

In addition to their chosen major, students may also complete the business analytics minor.

Students are required to take the following four courses:

  • ITM 2000: Information Technology with Supply Chains
  • OPM 2070: Introducing Business Statistics (or equivalent)
  •  ITM 3300:  Database Management Systems
  •  ITM 3700: Business Analytics

Students then select any two of the following to complete the minor:

  • ITM 3550: Introduction to Big Data
  • ITM 4700: Business Data Mining 
  • MKT 4650: Marketing Analytics

Note that marketing students cannot count MKT 4650 toward their minor since it's a required marketing course and cannot fulfill requirements of both that major and the business analytics minor.
