Minor in Strategic Communications

Gain experience communicating to all types of audiences digitally, through the media and in person. Coursework explores areas of advertising, public relations, digital strategies, intercultural communication, ethical professional communication and integrated corporate communication principles.

If you are already pursuing a bachelor's degree from SLU’s School for Professional Studies, such as organizational studies, you can take 24 credit hours in this subject for a minor in strategic communications.

Strategic Communications Certificate

If you've already obtained a bachelor's degree or higher, or if you meet the prerequisites, SLU offers a stand-alone strategic communications certificate that can be pursued entirely online with 24 credit hours. Gainful Employment Disclosure

Students with a minor or certificate in strategic communications from SLU learn to plan and create communications that directly support an organization’s goals. This program is excellent for individuals seeking careers in marketing, public relations and other communication departments within organizations.


Applicant Criteria

Students interested in strategic communications at SLU must apply directly to the School for Professional Studies. Applications are accepted and processed on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to apply for admission at least one month before the beginning of the term in which they wish to enroll.

To be eligible for admission, School for Professional Studies students must be at least 22 years old (exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis). Students must have a high school diploma or a GED composite score of at least 2250, and have at least three years of work experience or the equivalent. Students must also successfully complete an admission meeting with a SPS admissions counselor.

The School for Professional Studies offers a reduced tuition rate of half the cost of SLU’s traditional programs and offers numerous scholarships and awards specifically for new students.
