Medicine/Business Administration

The Saint Louis University School of Medicine and the John Cook School of Business jointly administer a full-time graduate dual-degree program that results in a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Business Administration.


About the Program

SLU’s M.D./MBA program is based in strong ethical and technical skills and develops professionals who are dedicated to changing medicine, providing innovative solutions and serving others. Our students cultivate leadership and management skills that help them deliver optimal patient care within the rapidly changing health care environment.

The program is generally completed in five years.

Curriculum and Program Details

Students begin this program in the School of Medicine and begin the MBA portion in either their second or third year.

The program also includes a study abroad component where students will study foreign-based business cases, visit local businesses and attend guest lectures. Scheduled between the fall and spring semesters, this 10-day trip provides an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on international business experience.

Careers

Graduates with an M.D. and an MBA have the skills to manage corporate medical practices, hospitals and related organizations, and to contribute to the evolution and development of health policy. In addition, many graduates pursue financial success through entrepreneurial opportunities related to drug delivery, diagnostic processes and biotechnology.

 


Application Requirements

You must be admitted to both the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and the John Cook School of Business, meeting the requirements of the M.D. and MBA programs, to pursue this dual degree.
