Bylaws of Saint Louis University Equestrian Team Adopted April 2006 Article I Membership Section 1: All members who meet the requirements as stated in the constitution to be members are considered active members, and may participate in any event and also vote. Section 2: A membership may be terminated after the acquirement of the maximum number of demerits as stated in the constitution. Article II New Membership Section 1: To be a member, an individual must complete and turn in (to the president) the SLU release form and send the team an email containing their name and experience. Article III Dues Section 1: All members must pay dues of $30 the first semester and $15 the second semester of each year. Article IV Officers (Executive Board) Section 1: The powers and duties of officers hereby are as follows: President: Presides over every meeting, event, fundraiser, etc…, has ulitmate decision in most situations unless otherwise noted in the constitution or bylaws, oversees all situations, keeps contact with the trainer, makes financial decisions, assigns jobs, keeps up roster, keeps constitution, bylaws, and all other things belonging to the team. Paliamentarian: Reviews the members and does team maintenance (making sure members meet requirements, discussing termination of a member with president if needed, etc), enforces rules, has final say in things pertaining to intercollegiate shows, assits President with planning, advises President in crucial decision making. Executive Vice President: Oversees and controls all things pertaining to advertising for shows, new membership, fundraisers, and other events. Designs/makes posters, hand-outs, commercials, etc. Appoints Chairs for events, helps plan events. Keeps up website. Secretary: Sends weekly newsletter (minutes), takes pictures, helps with website, documents things for the website and other records, makes calls if needed for planning events, helps treasurer keep lists of expenses/funds raised. Treasurer: Has full responsibility of finances, bank account, keeping track of funding (who raised how much money), dues, allocating funds (how much money we can use on each thing), makes decisions (to be approved by president) on how to save/make money. Secion 2: The powers and duties of elected officers (chairs) remain for the duration of a single event (ex: Chair of March Competition, Chair of Quad fundraiser, Chair of Donkey Basketball) Chairs are in charge of a single event, planning, using funds, PR, securing entertainers and food, all with the help and supervision of the Executive Board. Article V Section 1: Committees may be appointed as needed by any of the Executive Board with the approval of the President. Article VI Elections Section 1: Elections will be held every year on the first Tuesday of April. The newly elected officers will not take power until the fall semester. To win an election, a candidate must have only one more vote than their competitor(s). It will be a secret ballot. Article VII Quorum There must be at least fifty percent (50%) of total members present in order to have elections, or will not be considered valid.
