This completed packet, along with an attached, typewritten paragraph describing your qualifications and interest in running for the position that you have selected must be submitted NO LATER THAN Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 12:00pm to Donna Bess, Director of the Cross Cultural Center in the BSC. ISF executive board application interviews will begin at 4pm on Friday, March 30, 2007 in the Green Room of the BSC.


POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

The President shall:

  1. For fairness and efficiency uphold and enforce the adopted Constitution.
  2. Be the head of the International Student Body (ISB) and the chief executive officer of the Chartered Student Organization, the International Student Federation
  3. Be responsible for organizing Diversity Month activities, planning the International Banquet and Billiken World Festival, in conjunction with the Executive Vice-President.
  4. In consultation with the Executive Board prepare an agenda for each meeting.
  5. Call a special meeting to address a single emergency situation when deemed necessary. For such a meeting to occur the President must:

1) Call the Executive Board along with the Subgroups and the International Student Body,

2) Have 1/2 of the members of the Executive Board and Subgroups present

  1. Propose policies, programs, and plans of the organization and its Subgroups and direct the administration and execution of those policies, programs, and plans.
  2. Coordinate the activities of the Subgroups both in their relationships to each other and in their relationships to ISF as a whole. The President shall attend at least one meeting for each Subgroup per year.
  3. Attend the following Student Government Association (SGA) meetings:

1) Senate

2) Executive

  1. Supervise and coordinate all standing and ad hoc committees in their:

1) Managing proposals to administration

2) Reporting back to the ISB regarding their work and results

  1. Partake in and oversee the Executive Board duties and delegate assignments to the Executive Board

The Executive Vice-President shall:

  1. Be responsible for organizing Diversity Month activities, planning the International Banquet and Billiken World Festival, in conjunction with the President of ISF.
  2. With the approval of the Executive Board give approval for Subgroups to use university rooms and facilities, and give authorization for posting advertisements throughout the university.
  3. Advise the President and the Executive Board on programming opportunities that the executive board and the ISB might want to pursue.
  4. Represent the President in the absence of him/her, call meetings and attend president affairs.
  5. Attend Executive Board and ISB meetings.

The Vice-President of Publicity shall:

  1. Be the chief information officer for ISF with the responsibilities to promote our mission and purpose.
  2. Work with the Webmaster to disseminate information about our organization to the university and greater community.
  3. Coordinate the creation and distribution of flyers and posters for the organization’s events
  4. Attend Executive Board and ISB meetings.

The Treasurer shall:

  1. Prepare a budget for Executive Board and ISB approval.
  2. Monitor the subgroup budget submission process.
  3. Ensure that spending is done in accordance with the approved budget.
  4. Serve as chair of the ISF Finance Committee, which shall be composed of the financial officers of the affiliated Subgroups.
  5. Oversee all Subgroup accounts.
  6. Prepare a Financial Budget Proposal for SGA annual financial allocations.
  7. Attend Executive Board and ISB meeting.

The Secretary shall:

  1. Be responsible for all records of the ISF.
  2. Take detailed minutes during meetings.
  3. Send out information emails to international students and other members of ISF.
  4. Keep records of current memberships, probations, and expulsions.
  5. Help the President prepare the agenda for meetings and ensure that the agenda and the minutes of the previous meeting are made available to each attendee at the ISF office before the meeting.
  6. Attend Executive Board and Parliament meetings.

The Internal Affairs Coordinator shall:

  1. Be responsible for keeping a calendar of all the activities of ISF and its associate groups.
  2. Organize internal events that are specific to the organization’s members.
  3. Prepare an annual report from all the activities and meetings.
  4. Assist the Executive Vice-President and the Vice-President of Publicity in their affairs.
  5. In coordination with the President, serve as a liaison between the Executive Board and Subgroups.
  6. Attend Executive Board and ISB meetings.

The Webmaster shall:

  1. Keep the organization’s website up to date.
  2. Work with the Vice-President of Publicity to disseminate information about the organization to the university and community.
  3. Create and maintain an online calendar of all the activities of ISF and its associate groups.
  4. Attend Executive Board and ISB meetings.

The Senators shall:

  1. Attend SGA meetings.
  2. One senator shall sit on the SGA Internal Affairs Committee, the other on the SGA Finance Committee.
  3. In conjunction with the President, present issues concerning international students to the SGA Senate.
  4. With the approval of the Executive, chair committees regarding matters external to ISF.
  5. Attend Executive Board and ISB meetings.

Qualifications:

    1. All offices shall be filled by Regular Members*, with exceptions that can be made for positions other than the President, provided that they are approved in the selective interview process, and that they have shown significant contribution to achieve the purpose of ISF.
    2. Only members of the Executive Board are eligible to run for the President or Executive Vice-President.

*All students enrolled at Saint Louis University who were born in a country other than the United States of America and carry American visas or "green card" are Regular Members of the International Student Federation
