Part of the goal of a Jesuit education is to develop "Men and Women for Others." To that end, as an organization within a Jesuit university, we do our best as a team to try and give back to the community around us. Not
only does service give us the opportunity to help the community around us, but it also gives us a chance to grow as a team (and, sometimes, get a good workout as well :) ).
Although many of our weekends are spent playing water polo and doing other things around campus, we do our best to work at least some service into the activities of our club. Most recently, in October 2009, our team signed-up for Make a Difference Day. Our team worked with the Grand Center Senior Ministry.
In helping this organization, we traveled to multiple homes throughout the St. Louis area and helped with yardwork for some older individuals who needed the help. We broke out our hidden landscaping skills, and did anything from cutting grass, to trimming bushes, to edging some of the areas around the house. In just the course of one morning, we helped to revamp yards of two homes in St. Louis. Here are some of the pictures from the event:
