Sisterhood and Ritual

The Gamma Tau's exercise the ideals of sisterly love in everything we do. From Bid Day to Rite of Passage, you are a member of a collegiate Gamma Phi family at St. Louis University.

In order to keep our sisterhood strong we hold small sisterhood events such as Big Sis/Li'l Sis dinners, Crescent Circle Meetings, lunch in the main cafeteria, and meeting times before 10p.m. Mass. We also devote one meeting each month to a sisterhood activity. Past sisterhood meetings have found us roller skating, decorating flower pots, picking pumpkins at a pumpkin patch, or playing skee ball at Chuckee Cheese.

In addition, we hold one retreat each semester, which gives the entire sorority a chance to get away and spend time with each other working on communication skills, team building, and ritual. Each pledge class also holds their own retreats. Past destinations have included camping grounds near Meramec Caverns, wineries in Hermann, MO, and even the Gamma Tau Chapter Room! This year Gamma Phi Beta will also hold its first Spirituality & Faith Retreat as a means of examining our sister diverse beliefs and applying what we have learned as students at a Jesuit, Catholic institution.

Ritual is a very integral part of the Gamma Phi Beta experience. It served as a reminder of what we, as Gamma Phi's, strive for, and it binds us together as sisters in a way that no other event can. Ritual is exercised at each formal chapter meeting as well as during retreats and special events such as Founder's Day, Initiation, and Alumnae Rite of Passage.
