Walking and Jogging

Saint Louis University’s beautiful urban campus offers students, faculty, staff and members of the community a safe space to walk and jog in the city. 

Simon Rec Indoor Track

One circuit of Simon Recreation Center's indoor track is about 1/7 of a mile and provides a dry, comfortable exercise option during inclement weather.

Facilities

SLU Medical Center Track

This eight-lane, NCAA-regulation track, located at SLU’s Medical Center Recreation Complex, is available to the SLU community for drop-in use from sunrise to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and all day on weekends, unless there is a scheduled track meet or sporting event being hosted on the field.

Hermann Stadium Track

This 1/3-mile jogging track surrounds the soccer field at Hermann Stadium, allowing walkers and joggers a great option for exercise on SLU's campus. Be sure to check when Billiken varsity soccer games are being held, as track use is not allowed during those times.

Simon Recreation Center

The indoor track at Simon Recreation Center is open to members whenever the center is open and is approximately 1/7 of a mile long.

Routes

Simon Rec 5K Run

Try the Simon Recreation Center 5K run and enjoy the view of the north end of SLU’s campus. Since the starting and finishing points are both at the main entrance of the Simon Recreation Center, it is convenient and a great place to stretch out.

1.5 Mile Walking Tour

This route is perfect for exercise and gives you the chance to view some of Saint Louis University's attractions. The comfortable 1.5 mile walk leads you through the Billiken Sports Center, Laclede Park, and past Chaifetz Arena and the clock tower before heading back toward the Simon Rec Center. Note that this path includes crossing Grand Boulevard at two separate crosswalks.

Half-Mile Leisurely Walk

This simple loop will take you to the quad, Pius XII Memorial Library and the beautiful St. Francis Xavier College Church.
